1)  What is X_DEV's main purpose?
answer:
X_DEV's main purpose is to find the average extreme deviation of a stock's price over time.  This allows an investor to take advantage of short term price extremes to buy low and sell high.  X_DEV was built on the premise that long term investing is best accomplished through a series of short term trades.

2)  How does X_DEV work?  X_DEV uses a proprietary mathematical algorithm based on a stocks price deviation from a 12 day moving average.   Through a combination of man (the user) and machine (the X_Dev computer program) the stocks former and current trend are analyzed to to produce the next best buy or sell targets.  The X_DEV  program automatically calculates 2 sets of deviation bands.  The green and red bands represent  the stock, funds, or index's average 12 day deviation pattern.  This pattern is calculated using open, high, low and closing prices  (not just closing prices as most daily systems use).  The blue bands are standard % deviations of the red and green bands and are set by the user to obtain an optimal historical performance level.  Once the optimal level is found, the user is encouraged to follow the next signals the X_DEV program produces to enhance their trading/investing performance.

3)  How do I use X_DEV?
answer:

Refer to the User Manual. Click here: User Manual

4)  What is the best procedure for "optimizing" a stock?
answer:
Refer to post #1798 on the X_DEV message board.

5)  What kind of stocks are suitable X_DEV candidates?
answer:
High quality, volatile stocks or volatile mutual funds will be your best performers using the X_DEV method.  X_DEV performs best when the stock produces wide swings in sideways or gradually sloping trading ranges.  See a selection of X_DEV candidates on the X_DEV charts page.

6)  What time frame is best to use with X_DEV?
answer:
X_DEV is versatile enough to use in any time frame with the exception of the intraday time frame.  X_DEV currently generates it's signals on daily open, high, low and closing prices (not intraday prices) so daytrading using X_DEV is not practical.   The user can adjust the time frame of the back-tested study to find suitable X_DEV targets to use going forward in any time frame longer than 12 days.

7)  Can X_DEV be used for shorting?
answer:
Yes and no. The X_DEV trading system is primarily configured for "long" trading only, however the individual X_DEV sell signals are valid indications of an "overbought" condition.  A user may utilize X_DEV sell signals to position short on a stock, fund or index but must realize doing so is not part of an X_DEV system of trading, but an individual trading decision.  X_DEV is not currently configured to generate trading results that include shorting.  Future X_DEV versions may include this option.
